Consumers Energy told Fox News they're confident their smart meters work
correctly. The homeowner said he’s confident they don't.
Jerry Bosse was charged $22,000 by Consumers Energy for a two bedroom home, and said he won't pay it. Not only did he get charged with 14 months of estimated reads, but had a
smart meter that's reading higher-than-normal usage. He said Consumers
told him that it was reading $500 a month in electric usage.Bosse’s story is only the latest in a string of complaints about
Consumers Energy bills. On Thursday, FOX 17 Problem Solver Cassandra
Arsenault investigated a business owner facing a $13,000 bill for a
single month. Consumers claimed it was a billing glitch in their system.
Many others are
also getting these outrageous bills.
